Deutz engines are widely used in a variety of applications for their excellent performance, and the lubrication system, as a key component of the engine, plays a vital role in its proper operation. Lubrication system failure not only affects engine performance, but also may lead to serious damage. Therefore, accurate diagnosis and timely troubleshooting of lubrication system faults are of great significance.
1. Excessive oil consumption
Excessive oil consumption is one of the common failures. First of all, to determine whether the diesel engine external oil leakage. Open the diesel engine running until the water temperature reaches 80 degrees, when the engine components are at a normal working temperature, seals and other stable state, easy to check. Carefully check the diesel engine external gaskets, seals, “O” ring seals, the muffler, pipe joints, rubber receiver, etc. whether there are signs of leakage. If you find that there are oil stains oozing or dripping, you can determine the existence of external oil leakage problems. Second, check whether the diesel engine crankcase ventilation system is obstructed. If the ventilation is poor, it will lead to increased pressure in the crankcase, affecting the normal circulation of oil. If the piston ring seal is poor, the oil will enter the combustion chamber to be burned off, while the leakage is too large, the oil droplets will be blown out of the body along with the leaked combustion gases through the crankcase ventilation mechanism, which will not only increase the oil consumption, but will also affect the power output of the engine.
2. Diesel engine internal damage inspection
When suspected of diesel engine internal damage, cut the oil filter for inspection is an effective method. Different metal particles can reflect different causes of failure. If found copper particles, may be the shaft tile or connecting rod small head bushing damage, because these parts are usually made of copper alloy; chrome particles show that the piston ring wear, the piston ring surface is often plated with chrome to enhance wear resistance; lead shaft tile plating material serious wear will appear lead particles; aluminum piston wear or damage will lead to the appearance of aluminum particles. Through the analysis of metal particles in the oil filter, it can initially determine the internal fault parts of the engine, providing an important basis for subsequent maintenance.
3. Diagnosis of lubrication system faults
Diagnosis of lubrication system failure, need to comprehensively check all parts related to the oil. The oil pressure gauge can visualize the oil pressure situation, if the oil pressure gauge shows abnormality, further investigation is required. The check of the oil fluid includes checking whether the oil level is within the normal range, the oil level is too low may lead to poor lubrication, too high will increase the engine running resistance. Oil contamination should not be ignored, seriously contaminated oil will lose good lubrication performance, accelerate component wear. In addition, the viscosity of the oil is also critical, the right viscosity to ensure that in different working conditions to provide effective lubrication for the engine. For example, in high-temperature environments, the oil viscosity should be relatively high to maintain sufficient film strength; while in low-temperature environments, the viscosity needs to be lower to ensure that the oil can flow quickly to the lubrication parts.
4. Excessive oil pressure
In cold weather, the oil pressure is usually too high after the initial start of the diesel engine. It is also possible that the oil pressure regulator valve is jammed at the high pressure position, the oil level is too high, the oil viscosity is too high, etc.
5. Low oil pressure
Many lubrication system failures can make the oil pressure lower. When the oil pressure is found to be too low, you should first determine whether the diesel engine working conditions are normal, such as engine speed, load, etc. in the normal range. Then check for malfunctions. A low oil level will cause the oil pump to draw in insufficient oil, which will result in lower oil pressure. The oil filter is clogged and the oil cannot pass through the filter smoothly, which will also cause the oil pressure to drop. Damage to the oil pressure gauge, such as broken wires, failed pressure sensor components, leaking or broken lines, can cause the oil pressure display to be inaccurate and mistaken for low oil pressure. Transitional wear of the oil pump, which usually occurs after the diesel engine has been running for a longer period of time, will lead to a decrease in the pumping ability of the oil pump and a decrease in oil pressure. If the oil becomes thin and black, indicating that there is a mixture of fuel, which may be due to injector failure, so that the fuel is not fully combusted into the oil sump and oil mix; if the oil is milky and white, indicating that there is a mixture of coolant. When the oil is mixed with coolant, the following parts may have problems.
(1) Oil cooler: ruptured cooler, loose inlet and outlet flanges, damaged gaskets, and ruptured cooler cores may cause the oil to intermingle with the coolant. In diesel engine operation, the oil pressure is higher than the coolant pressure, if the oil cooler appears any of the above faults, will make the oil mixed into the coolant. Open the radiator cap, if you see oil in the coolant, and the coolant will overflow from the radiator, you can judge that the oil cooler may have problems.
(2) Intercooler: If the intercooler leaks, the coolant leaks into the intake tube and flows into the cylinder, and will leak into the oil pan through the piston ring channel. The intercooler can be removed to check whether there are signs of coolant leakage into the intake pipe, in order to determine whether the intercooler failure.
(3) cylinder head related parts: cylinder head seal aging damage, cylinder head gasket damage, cylinder head cracks, cylinder head water chamber cracks, cracks in the body, etc., can be used to remove the oil pan, the cooling system pump pressure of 140Kpa for inspection. If these problems exist, they can cause coolant to leak into the oil. Diesel fuel leakage into the oil, usually diesel fuel from the piston ring leakage into the oil sump, this is due to incomplete combustion in the cylinder, unburned fuel will leak into the oil sump, and most of the above situation is due to the failure of the piston ring seal resulting in a lower compression ratio or the injector dripping oil. The increase of white smoke in the exhaust gas during the initial startup every day is a sign of injector leakage, and injector leakage also makes the diesel engine run rough and lower power.
In short, Deutz engine lubrication system troubleshooting needs to be comprehensive and detailed, from all aspects of the comprehensive analysis, in order to accurately find out the cause of the failure and timely repair, to ensure that the engine runs normally.
