1. Disassembly of the camshaft
(1) Press the bolt that screws out the cylinder head cover and remove the camshaft.
(2) Remove the cylinder head cover.
(3) Remove the camshaft and cover the open part of the engine.
2. Installation of camshafts
(1) Remove the sealant residue in the groove of the cylinder head cover and on the sealing surface; Clean the sealing surface, which must be grease-free; Oiling the friction surface of the camshaft.
(2) Insert the intake camshaft into the cylinder head. Turn the cam of the 4 cylinder upwards.
(3) Check whether the tappet of the camshaft adjusting actuator is retracted.
(4) Insert the exhaust camshaft into the cylinder head cover.
(5) Apply sealant to the clean sealing surface of the cylinder head cover. The thickness of the sealant is 2~3mm.
(6) Fix the camshaft and install the cylinder head cover and camshaft on the cylinder head.
(7) Press the cylinder head cover slightly with your hand while turning the camshaft slightly until the cylinder head cover sticks to the cylinder head.
(8) Replace the bolts of the cylinder head cover and tighten the bolts in multiple steps.
As the core component of the engine, the daily maintenance of the camshaft is essential to maintain the performance and prolong the service life of the engine. Here are some basic maintenance recommendations:
(1) Change the oil and oil filter regularly. Regular oil and oil filter changes maintain the cleanliness and lubrication properties of the oil, which reduces wear on the camshaft. It is recommended to change the oil every 5,000 km to 10,000 km, depending on the vehicle's usage and oil type.
(2) Regularly check the camshaft clearance. Regularly checking and adjusting the camshaft clearance can avoid the camshaft from wearing out too quickly. It is recommended to check the camshaft clearance every 20,000 km to 40,000 km, and the specific inspection cycle can be determined according to the use of the vehicle.
(3) Avoid excessive modification. If not properly modified, not only will it fail to improve performance, but it will also cause damage to the camshaft and engine.
